2010 Home and Garden Tour Preview Party
Saturday, April 24, 2010
The 2010 Garden Oaks Home and Garden Tour kicked off Saturday, April 24th with a casual, self guided tour of the six spectacular homes selected for this year’s tour, Something Old, Something New. One of the benefits of attending the Home Tour Preview Party is the chance to stroll through the homes at leisure and visit with the homeowners, generous sponsors and tireless volunteers who make this event happen! The homes were held open for those attending the party from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday evening, April 24th.
The Preview Party continued at the Bell Tower on 34th, 901 W. 34th St, from 7:00 until 10:30 pm that same evening. A fabulous dinner menu was selected of appetizers of assorted cheeses, seasonal fruit and spicy raspberry torte. A mixed green salad was followed by inside round of beef and seasonal vegetables as well as two different pasta selections. A table of scrumptious desserts were available. Three drink tickets for wine, beer or well drink selections were included with each ticket. Valet parking was provided that evening as well.
If you have not had the opportunity to experience the wonderful ambience of the Bell Tower yet, you should not have missed this event! There were two levels of seating for the celebration: a reserved table of 10, and individual tickets. Reserved tables of 10, either inside in the wine cellar building, or outside in the water wall area, were available for $1,250. Exterior seating in the serene water wall garden area was $100 per individual ticket.
Exciting silent auction items were available for viewing and bidding throughout dinner. As always, our guests of honor, our wonderful homeowners and sponsors, were introduced to all in attendance. It was a great opportunity to meet those who so generously step up to help make Garden Oaks this city’s best kept and greenest secret!
The auction committee came up with an unbelievable array of auction items for the 2010 celebration! A fabulous Hill Country weekend getaway, wine dinners, photography packages, original artwork, dinners for two (or ten) and so much more were auctioned off at this year’s event. A live auction for several of the night’s most coveted items followed dinner.
Seating for this year’s event was limited to 200 in the wine cellar/waterwall areas of the Bell Tower. It was a magical night of Something Old, Something New in Garden Oaks.
